Why Did I choose Animas?
I would like to think that I have a well developed and refined perspective as well as productive things to add. When it comes to political problems or in school problems I always have something productive to say. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that in this school I can personally confront my teachers and advocate for my grades and work. The fact that I am very mixed and diverse in my learning styles makes Animas perfect for me because there are almost infinite opportunities for you no matter what you enjoy and how you learn. I really disagree with the fact that the public is constantly being standardized and segregated by the public schooling system. In bigger standard schools no one gets along and you are defined by how “smart” you are and what stereotype you may represent, you are then almost expected to hang out with those that resemble you and do what they do. In Animas individualism is encouraged and welcomed, acceptance is really key here. I feel that one of Animas’ strongest points are the teacher student relationships, in the public schooling system you are taught that the teachers are superiors and just there to tell you what you need to do and give you work then grade you however they think appropriate. In Animas however you address your teachers by their first name, already creating a more equal feel and developing your relationship from the start. The teachers here all connect with you on a personal level and help you out individually, I really feel closer to my teachers than I ever have. I chose Animas because it is a perfect fit for me and I am very excited for the journey ahead.
